Debuted on the runway in Comme des Garcon Homme's Spring/Summer 2017 collection, this ambitious and visually-stimulating take on the Nike Retro Dunks proved to be very ahead of its time design-wise. For this collection, Rei Kawakubo took inspiration from the children's book "The Emperor's New Clothes," resulting in the see-through and transparent nature of the shoe. The 'see through shoe' would go on to be more than just a novelty, however, as it would be mimicked in following years in other Nike shoe models. Over two years later, this collaboration is one of the more sought-after pair of Dunks that Nike has ever made.
