This piece has been a personal grail for a long time, so I am very excited to offer it up. For Dior's Autumn/Winter 2017 collection, artistic director Kris Van Assche tapped Brooklyn-based painter and street-artist Dan Witz for a collaboration. Dan Witz is best known for his mosh pit paintings: Baroque-style depictions of New York underground and hardcore shows. To produce these one-of-a-kind paintings, Witz goes to punk shows at local dive bars and photographs the raw energy of the crowd. He then paints these scenes in hyper-realistic fashion, spending months to create large-scale paintings. Kris Van Assche reached out to Witz simply to buy some of his art, but this conversation turned into a full-on runway collaboration between Dior and Witz. This particular sweater is extremely rare, the quality of the knitting is crazy.
