Description
Demna Gvasalia's Spring/Summer 2018 show for Balenciaga was held in Bois de Boulogne, a beautiful park on the outskirts of Paris. The show featured dad-aged models who walked the runway accompanied by their real children, which was a first as far as fashion week goes. When asked about his creative direction for the show, Demna explained, "It felt like we needed to relax," and, "It's the same executive man but brought out into his comfort zone." This explains the "family camping trip" vibe from the show. This oversized, stand-collar parka fits in nicely with Demna's vision for the collection. With the phrase "The Power of Dreams." boldly embroidered on the inside of the collar and families walking the runway, this collection is decidedly positive and hopeful. It is a nice change of pace from Demna's usual dark and knotty designs. Regardless, the silhouette and shape of the parka itself is sick.
